Image Deskew
Image deskewing is the process of straightening an image that has been scanned or photographed at a slanted angle. This often happens with flatbed scanners when a form is not placed at right angles with the corner of the scanner, or when a document scanner incorrectly feeds a page through its scan head. For form recognition and OMR to work properly, it is highly important that the "skew" of the image is less than one or two percent.
FormReturn overcomes issues with skewed images as it includes an automatic deskew function that detects an image's skew angle and rotates the image by its detected skew angle to make it straight. FormReturn uses the Hough transform algorithm to detect the base slant of the top significant black points in the page.
Image deskew is set to enabled by defaut and is also configurable in the recognition settings and publication areas within FormReturn.
